In the presence of the director
Italy, summer of 1990. Nazzarena, Marzia, Alfonso and Adriano are the captive-grown children of Rome’s upper middle class, searching for a way out of the gilded cages in which they have been confined. They move sometimes sinuous, sometimes impetuous or clumsy, between erotic and fierce urges, like sensual and fragile creatures adrift, leaving behind a trail as red as blood. Annarita Zambrano’s second feature is a black comedy, in which Italy appears against the light, with the distortions and violence of a country bent on the pettiness of the tired powers that run through it.
