Alcarràs, winner at Berlin International Film Festival 2022, will be the opening film of Bellaria Film Festival

Alcarràs, winner of the Golden Bear at the Berlin Film Festival 2022, will be the opening film at the Bellaria Film Festival.

The film will be introduced in the auditorium by the director Carla Simón, together with the Italian co-producer Giovanni Pompili, who, with Kino Produzioni, is leading a generation of Italian authors that embody a new idea
of cinema.

“I am happy to inaugurate this new edition of the Bellaria Film Festival with a film that is the manifesto of a new wave of cinema: the free and poetic gaze of a young filmmaker capable of transforming the personal into the political, rereading the history of her country through the eyes of children and teenagers. Alcarràs is not only the sign of a possible new ethical commitment in cinema, which starts again from universal themes such as the earth and the family, but also the fruit of a new way of looking at co-productions and the work behind the films, which distinguishes Kino productions, like many new Italian production partners present at the Festival”, states Daniela Persico, artistic director of the Festival.

The film, which will be released by I Wonder Pictures, will be presented on an opening night in the presence of Carlo Chatrian, director of the Berlinale, who will hold a masterclass with the author the following morning.

The Bellaria Film Festival is proud to open the doors of the house of independent cinema, a place where international cinema can meet Italian cinema.
